I think that equally important is what touch does to us as human beings. It starts in infancy where babies who aren’t caressed and lovingly touched fail to thrive like normal babies. As we get older it manifests in different ways, but maybe when we say “grumpy old bastard,” or “grumpy old bitch” *maybe* they’d be much happier if they got a cuddle every now and then.
